At Young’s Pro Shop, we can’t give you talent, but we can give you the best edges in Alberta. We specialize in pro-level sharpening and profiling that keeps you glued to the ice (when you want to be). We’re Blackfalds’ go-to spot for reliability because we take our steel seriously—so you can spend less time wobbling and more time cellying.

Behind the Bench

I’m Nick Young, along with my wife, Shantell, and we are proud to call Blackfalds home. Since moving here in 2017, our lives have revolved around the local rinks and diamonds. With three kids in the mix, we’ve spent more hours in cold arenas than we’d probably care to count—so we know exactly how much a bad sharpen or a lost edge can ruin a game.

Let’s get one thing straight, though: I’m not just some random dad who watched a 10-minute YouTube tutorial, bought a dusty sharpener off Kijiji, and set up shop next to the snowblower to fund my kids' tournament fees. I have years of actual, rigorous professional training and hands-on experience mastering the exact science of custom profiling and sharpening. I know the complex geometry of hollows and radiuses so you don't have to—and I didn't learn it by ruining my own kids' skates. I'm not here to just make a quick buck; I am on a borderline-obsessive mission to be the undisputed, number one go-to skate professional in all of Alberta.

We opened this shop because we love this community and wanted to bring a level of professional precision to our neighbors. When you bring your skates to us, you’re getting more than just a service; you’re getting the expertise of a family that lives and breathes the game.
